Why these four print finishing methods are so popular

Make sure you choose the print finish option to suit your budget as well as considering your desired result and the reason for creating the project.

Here are the most popular print finishing methods our clients love to use to help improve the look and feel of their print work:

ENCAPSULATION

ENCAPSULATION involves encasing, for example, a poster or printed menu in a clear plastic sheet on both sides .This plastic covering usually extends beyond the edges of your document by around 5-10mm and encapsulates or seals the paper within it.

Encapsulation is a very popular way to protect graphic prints as it ensures a wipe clean, durable and waterproof covering, all at the same time.

LAMINATION

LAMINATION is the process in which an ultra-thin plastic film is applied to a document or graphic print and can be applied to almost any type of paper or cardboard. The most commonly used lamination finishes are gloss or matt and can cover either just one side or both sides of a document.

Lamination is used to enhance the overall appearance of a wide range of documents, as well as providing a more durable and wipe clean finish.Lamination is most commonly used for documents such as brochures, leaflets and presentation folders.

Matt Lamination – Matt lamination gives a very subtle and high end quality look to documents and reports , as it lends a contemporary finish to the surface.

Gloss Lamination – Gloss lamination provides a glossy finish and is commonly used for brochure covers, magazine covers and presentation folders.

MOUNTING

You can easily mount your graphic prints or posters for a multitude of different uses including signage, exhibition panels, presentation boards and interior design graphics. You can choose from a wide range of materials to mount your posters on, which can then be gloss or matt laminated for a professional finish. The choices include:

Foamex: This option is a very cost-effective display solution which is most suited for large displays such as event signage and retail displays. Your poster is mounted onto a hard-wearing Foamex board of your desired size to provide a high quality mounted finish to your graphic prints. Foamex is durable and weatherproof, which makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Foamboard: This method is commonly used for mounting graphics for presentation boards and is also known as foamcore. Foamboard is extremely lightweight, but also incredibly strong and durable which makes it the perfect choice for mounting larger posters or artwork.

Corex: Corex is a type of corrugated plastic which is made up of a twinwall, fluted polymer. Corex is an extremely cost effective material and is commonly used for Estate Agents sale signs. It is weather resistant so can be used for both indoor and outdoor use.

Display card: Display card is a rigid material that is best suited for mounting small to medium prints.
