HOW CAN YOU HELP YOURSELF?

Set A Time Schedule – it may seem obvious , but missing a deadline or scurrying around trying to meet that deadline at the last minute does often come down to the strength of your organisational skills. To keep you on track set a schedule of work that needs to be done in your diary and stick to it. Keep your deadlines top of mind at all times. Mobile technology in which you can set reminders, install alerts and constantly keep updated with information are a great tool in organising your life / schedule and keeping a firm handle of what needs to be done and when.

Avoid Procrastination – Easier said than done especially if your deadline does seem a long way away. Tomorrow really never comes, so don’t allow yourself to get into the habit of telling yourself “I’ll do it tomorrow” or “I have plenty of time to do this work.”

Know your material – Again, this sounds obvious, but naturally there will be elements of that area that are less clear to you than others (if they weren’t or aren’t, you wouldn’t be studying now would you?!). So ensure that you gather your research materials - that’s textbooks, research, survey’s etc - in plenty of time so that you have that knowledge in hand as and when you begin the process of completing your project.

Manage your time – Basically, what all of this comes down to is the efficient management of the time you have. Don’t be slave to it, but make it work for you. If you require studios, book the space early and use the time you have in their effectively; if primary evidence in the form of interviews is needed, make contact as soon as possible.
